Klaus Schoeffmann is assistant professor at the Institute of Information Technology (ITEC) at Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt, Austria, where he received his Ph.D. degree in 2009. His current research focuses on visual content processing and interactive video search. He is the author of numerous peer-reviewed publications on video browsing, video exploration, and video content processing. Klaus Schoeffmann teaches various courses in computer science (including media technology, multimedia systems, operating systems, distributed systems) and he has co-organized international conferences, special sessions and workshops (e.g., MMM 2012, CBMI 2013, MMC 2014, and VisHMC 2014). He is co-founder of the Video Search Showcase (VSS), formerly known as Video Browser Showdown (VBS). He is member of the IEEE and the ACM and a frequent reviewer for international conferences and journals in the field of Multimedia.

ITEC is one of 7 institutes in the Faculty of Technical Sciences at Klagenfurt University (Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt). The University is located almost directly on Lake Wörth (Wörthersee) and close to the center of Klagenfurt, which is the capital of Carinthia (the southernmost state of Austria), a very beautiful area in the south-eastern region of the Alps. It is near the border to Slovenia and Italy and not far away from the Adriatic Sea.
